3. This Thursday Night Special on Saturday Night played out like Week 7's Seahawks-Cardinals matchup, which is to say a sneaky defensive slugfest. Both units came out flying. Cincinnati's defensive line sacked Savage three times in the first half and four times on the game. Jadeveon Clowney (one sack) and Whitney Mercilus (two sacks) were terrors once again against Cincy's porous line. But the key to both defenses' prowess on the night was the secondary play. Bengals corners Dre Kirkpatrick and Adam Jones combined to handle Hopkins and Will Fuller on the outside for three quarters. Texans cornerback A.J. Bouye had a game-high nine tackles and continues to play himself into a multi-year deal. Bouye, Johnathan Joseph and Kareem Jackson will be able to hold their own against the AFC's best receiving corps in the postseason.

Coop and Crab have been limited in practice all week. UPDATE: Cooper, Crabtree and Osemele are expected to play, per Rapoport.

Neither Maxwell nor Jenkins practiced all week. UPDATE: Maxwell is not expected to play, per NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport.

Sammy Watkins, Buffalo Bills, foot, (Q): Watkins continues to be listed as questionable, but by now fantasy owners have come to expect he will take the field. His volume of work has remained high in terms of offensive snaps played, but his touches and, therefore, his productivity, have been limited. The Bills host the Dolphins in this Week 16 matchup, and fantasy owners are left to decide just how much they trust Watkins to contribute to their rosters this week.
wholesale nfl jerseys

3. The Browns are using the final games of this lost season to make a decision on quarterback Robert Griffin III. Cleveland will never sport a sustainable offense with him at the helm, but Griffin played his best game in years on Sunday. The former first-round pick of the Redskins used the read-option to run for 42 yards and kept drives alive with a handful of money throws to guide the Browns to their most points since Week 8. Griffin was sacked an unruly seven times and couldn't finish the game because of a concussion suffered in the final quarter, but he and fill-in Cody Kessler will always be remembered as the passers who prevented a winless season (and also nearly made it happen).

3. A week after putting up a paltry 29 rushing yards against the Panthers, the Redskins got 208 on the ground from the combination of Robert Kelley, Cousins, Chris Thompson and Mack Brown. As good as Cousins has been this year, the Redskins' offense needs a consistent ground game to give him the ability to beat the defense deep and utilize play action. The Redskins will need that kind of performance out of their ground game against the Giants next weekend to have any chance of playing on Wild Card Weekend.

Players off game status injury report:
wholesale jerseys,

1. It's been a tough two weeks for the upstart Buccaneers. With back-to-back losses to the Cowboys and Saints, Tampa Bay (8-7) has blown an opportunity to win the NFC South; Atlanta's win over Carolina and Tampa's loss secured the title for the Falcons. For the Bucs to sneak into the playoffs as the second wild card, they'll need help from the Lions and the Giants and permutations to be named later in Week 17.

Around The NFL colleague and ugly Christmas sweater connoisseur Marc Sessler dove deep on the Christmas Day games, so I'll be brief:

Falcons (-2.5) over Panthers: Carolina has played hard and pretty well the past few weeks. But I believe in the Falcons and their offense, especially with Julio Jones back, and think they keep get an important road win.

Brandon Marshall, New York Jets, shoulder/back, (Q): Marshall has been a regular on the injury report, but his shoulder being listed as the injured area is new. He was able to participate in practice in some fashion each day which would seem to bode well for his status. Last week, for instance, Marshall was also listed as questionable but played. Still, his productivity has been down. After he saw a season-low in targets in Week 14 with five, his Week 15 targets were higher but yielded just one catch for 16 yards. Assuming he is active Saturday night when the Jets travel to New England, fantasy owners may play him at their own risk.

Los Angeles Rams: S Maurice Alexander (concussion), DB Lamarcus Joyner (ankle), WR Michael Thomas -- DOUBTFUL

Say what? Stat of the week: The Ravens are the only team to hold Le'Veon Bell under 100 scrimmage yards this season -- held Bell to 70 scrimmage yards in Week 9.

The Giants had their chances on the final Thursday night game of the 2016 season, driving deep into Philadelphia territory three times in the final five minutes down one score. But they settled for a surprising field goal on the first one, were stopped on fourth down on the other and intercepted on the third in the waning moments. The 10-5 Giants now must wait for help to get into the playoffs, although it easily could happen by virtue of other teams losing as early as Saturday afternoon.

Miami Dolphins 34, Buffalo Bills 31 (OT)

Julio Jones torched Panthers so bad in Week 4 (300 yards receiving), defensive coordinator Sean McDermott joked this week, that on the flight back to Charlotte he "wanted to open the window and jump." The Panthers defense has stiffened since giving up 571 yards that day. The defensive front, in particular, has been sturdier, compiling a league-leading 40 sacks and allowing fewer than 60 yards rushing the past two weeks. Jones will play after missing the past two weeks. Even at less than 100 percent, Jones will take attention from and create matchups for Mohamed Sanu and Taylor Gabriel to exploit.

Say what? Stat of the week: Seattle has allowed 10 points or fewer in five games this season (most in NFL). The next-closest teams have three such games (six teams tied).
